The drawings I present are part of the heritage from Liguria.
Cogoleto is a picturesque place located between Arenzano and Varazze, near the Genova bay Area.
I used to go in the winter time for 2 weeks and get inspired before moving back to Finland, where I do live for about 6 years.
There I firmly believe part of the best sceneries from Italia are well connected with the figurative art , which gives impressions and inspirations to several Artists , thanks to the marvellous sunsets and the exquisite exotic feelings that guide normal people to experience a trascendental emotion of connection and beauty.
Not far from Cogoleto is located Genova, the old city with the harbour and the old streets , named ”Carrugi ”. Over the extension of the place, after a nice walk on the pedestrian side ( which makes the 78% of the city itself ) the stunning and beautiful complex of the Monumental Cemetary of Staglieno, give a radiant glimpse of Art to the city, as an ”Open -sky museum ”.
The magnificent monuments and the soft arcades, allow the visitors to explore the elegiac vision of a cemetary, on its most enchanting wealthy Art.
There I was carried away by the inspiration and returning back to Cogoleto, I started to draw several sketches, which now I am making on scale in a 1000 x 2,70 metres long paper.
The sponsor of this ambiguous Art project is supported by Koehler Paper Company and the City of Pori ( The studio is in Isokarhu, open to the public ).
Here in the Library of Vaala, I would like to present some of the sketches, trying to commit a bridge from 2 different cultures .
