The regional museum of Säräisniemi is situated in premises of the very first school building of Säräisniemi parish (built in 1884). The building worked as a school until the 1960s, after which it was transformed into a museum. In addition to sketches and equipment of painter-artists Paavo Leinonen and Olli Seppänen, items and objects collected from around the area in Vaala previously used in agricultural and household duties, but also a set of school articles are on display. In the old school yard there is a granary from the 1800s, a windmill and the old Säräisniemi fire station building.
